3 Tips to lighten your hair naturally without going to the hairdresser

Want a natural, light sun-kissed effect on your lengths and ends, like you just got back from vacation? With these natural ingredients, it’s easy to do at home.

If you’re dreaming of a vacation blonde effect, i.e. hair lightened by a few shades, in a pretty cameo with your original shade, these tips are for you!
But if you’re looking for a precise effect, a perfectly controlled highlight color or an immediate result, it’s best to go to a salon to get a proper balayage.

1. Honey, nourishing and lightening

This ingredient is best known for its soothing and restorative properties, but it also has bleaching power. The reason? Honey contains a little hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide).
If the concentration is very low, it is sufficient to act on the shade of the hair that it lightens towards the caramel tones.
How to use it? Simply apply honey (natural, be careful with the composition) on the lengths and ends, and wait one hour before rinsing. If the application is difficult, you could dissolve the honey in a bit mineral water. The effect is not immediate, but after the 3rd application, you will notice a real difference.
For a faster result, you can leave it on overnight or expose your honey-coated hair to the sun.

2. Lemon, light and shine

This is the cheap and effective tip par excellence: make a mixture ¾ lemon juice and ¼ water, and use it as a rinse water on the lengths (be careful not on the scalp to avoid irritation). Leave on for a minimum of 2 hours, including at least 30 minutes in the sun. The bleaching action is quite fast, and you will see the result in only one application. Be careful, lemon tends to make hair dry, so compensate with nourishing care products.

3. Chamomile, soft and illuminating

If the hair care lines intended for blond hair are traditionally with chamomile, it is not a coincidence. This soothing flower has very gentle lightening properties. Simply steep a handful of dried chamomile flowers in boiling water and use the cooled tea as a rinse. You can also store it in a spray bottle to make a homemade spray to use whenever you want, even when your hair is dry. The most effective way to boost the effectiveness of chamomile? Exposing yourself to the sun after applying your decoction.

How to maintain your bleached hair?

Bleached hair is more fragile than other hair. The reason? They have been rid of a more or less important part of their pigments. The bleaching stage, whether done at home or at the hairdresser’s, will weaken them. They will then be more sensitive to the cold, the sun, pollution and other aggressions that they may suffer on a daily basis. The solution: take special care of them by adapting your beauty routine. A gentle shampoo combined with a nourishing conditioner is ideal to bring comfort to your bleached hair. Then, once a week, apply an intense mask. Also, don’t forget to use a purple shampoo if you see your bleached hair turning yellow.
